Vegetable oil all over inside and out.Nice coat.Place in egg or oven @350 for 1 hour then turn oven off or shut vents on BGE and let it cool.I like to do the same process 3-4 times before using. The more you use it the better it gets.NEVER, NEVER use soap or a steel scrubby to clean it.If you do,then you must re-season!!!

It is pre-seasoned, sort of. Cook bacon in it the first couple of cooks. That will do it.
Always wash and oil after use, as in the instructions. -
Congrats on your new toy.

Nice gift. Take a minute and visit the Lodge website and read up on your DO.
You have some good advice above.
Most likely it is pre-seasoned. The more you use it the better it will get.
So get cooking...
Using a DO with the egg is the best of both worlds.
Congratulations and as I said, get cooking.

Here is a good site for Dutch Ovens.

My way is similar to all of the above.
I coat mine with Crisco, then put it in the gasser upside down and not directly above an active burner. Placing it upside down allows the excess oil to drain. I use the gas grill so I don't smoke up the house.
I also season mine 3 or 4 times before using it, and then try to fry fatty foods, like bacon, for the first few times.
