I mentioned to my dad that I had seen some great food done in DOs on the forum and he said he thought he and mom had one sitting around. Sure enough - he came up with a Lodge 8 for me to have. The interior of the pot had some rust spots and the inside of the lid had a good bit of rust.
After a few hours of work I got it cleaned up. The toughest part was around the metal nubs on the interior of the lid. A run to HD and a small carbon steel dremel tool did the trick.
Below are some shots of before and after. BTW - some good info on DOs at www.dutchovendude.com. I followed the instructions for restoring and seasoning there. I liked the idea that the gasser would be relegated to cleaning things for the bge. :pinch:
So give me some ideas on your favorite DO cooks.

Good job Matt

Looks great!
What is your first recipe?
How about a pot of Tortilla Soup?XL and Mini Max. Lawrenceville, GA -
Probably doing chili today (indoors :( ) as it's cold and rainy outside.
I like the sound of tortilla soup. Got a good recipe you can share? -
Looks almost like new. I'm sure your parents will be happy to see it cleaned up and put to use. They may even want to try something out of it from off the egg! :P The last time I used mine I baked some no knead bread and it came out fantastic. I have to give Ross credit because I merely copied his lead. Tim

Nice job on the cleaning and seasoning. I do more stews and beans than anything else in mine. Here is a link to Byron's recipe page..... it covers a lot of different things.
