Do you cook on the EGG in the rain ?
We are having people over tonight. We are doing wings.
The weather is 58 and raining. I set up the outdoor umbrella over the EGG. Am I o.k with the set up ? My wife is a bit skeptical. She thinks it best to do them in the oven. I differ, of course.
Any advice would be appreciative.
Thanks.
Gary

what are you waiting for,,, fire it up
-
Gary,
you'll be fine just make sure to shut your egg down so it doesn't go nuclear and catch it on fire after cooking! BTW has the package arrived yet?
RonRe-gasketing America one yard at a time. -
Yes it has. Thank you. I haven't sent you the check yet. I will send it off on Monday.

I used to Egg in the rain. No problems for the Egg but annoying as all get out to me.
Now days I Egg in the Coop. Makes all the difference.
Get yourself a Coop and you will be happy to entertain no matter the weather.

Love the coop! How do I talk my wife into one? -
I wish I could. Not enough space. I did see a Big Green Egg Easy-Up. That would work.
Nice pics. -
In some cases we are lucky that they let us have our EGGs.
Wait when it is time for us wanting to get another........

What? It's only water! Go for it.
Up here we got anywhere from -2 to -30! I'd rather get wet than frozen! -
here in the rain capital (Seattle)
we egg regardless. Go for it!
or... if the wife wants to cook, put your
legs up, get a cold one... -
It seems like once or twice a week it rains while I am egging. No big deal...

I've run my egg several times in the rain... It's no big deal... Go for it!!!

Ya got a golf umbrella? Here in FL we have to egg in the rain all the time!
FaithHappily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!

We grilled tonight with light rain and sleet, temp in mid 30's. Chicken breasts were just fine.

I cooked in the cold drizzle as well. Burgers turned out great. If I didn't cook in the rain, I wouldn't have done much cooking lately.

It took me a couple of years to convince her to get the first one. Only about 4 months for the second one. The whole family loves egged food.

The Egg has no problem in the rain, it's the cook I worry about more
I use an EZ-up cover when needed. I just don't like to cook at temps over 500f when I have it up. I wouldn't want to melt or burn the tarp.Knoxville, TN
Nibble Me This -
I went to Lowes/Home Depot and bought a 7 or 8" (I forget) adjustable angle elbow vent in the plumbing department. It is big enough to fit over the outside dimension of the daisy wheel, and rest on top of the dome. The gigantic size ensures I don't restrict airflow, and the elbow prevents any rain from hitting the daisy wheel. I'll post pics when I get back to my Egg.

Nice boat and lift, colorful umbrella.
Cheers,

I use an 8" flue cap over the daisy wheel, doesn't restrict the air flow and keeps the rain out. Most hardware stores that carry stove parts will have them. Costs less than ten bucks.

Here's my fix:
I like that I can point the open section in any direction, so it allows me to use it as a wind block in addition to snow/rain, etc... -
Just do it
