If you would like to enter the degree symbol (°), try this:
While holding down the ALT key, using the !!NUMERIC!! keypad (not the number
keys across the top of the keyboard), type the sequence 0176.
When you let go of the ALT key, the degree symbol (°) should appear.
Now, if you’re using Outlook or another email client that allows for Word to
be your editor, you can also use:
Insert-->Symbol, then pick “Symbols”.
Make sure “(normal text)” is selected and look for the degree symbol.
Click on the degree symbol and then in the lower right, click on “Insert”,
then click on “Close”.

It is supposed to be 63° here today.
Cool, it works. -
On a fullsize keyboard, Alt + 248 works too.
On laptops, the number pad is on the letter keys, and holding Ctrl+Alt then pressing the 0176 works.Happy Trails~thirdeye~Barbecue is not rocket surgery -
I find it easier to use '*' or type 'deg'.
-
Thirdeye,
How do you use the numbers that are on the laptop letter keys? Also, th 7,8,&9 are on number keys and it shows it the center. Let see if this will work.
My # 7 key looks like this, maybe. LOL

You have a valid point.

On a Mac, while pressing the Option key and Shift key together, press number 8 above the keyboard. Presto, the ° appears.
-
Here's a few more that come in handy...
¢ Alt + 0162
¼ Alt + 0188
½ Alt + 0189
¾ Alt + 0190
÷ Alt + 0247
° Alt + 0176

And if all else fails.....&-deg-; leave out the minus signs....49° here today..

I found the key that works. On my Dell laptop the control, alt. does not work for the numbers but there is a key next to the control key marked "Fn" Hold that down and you get the numbers rather then the letters.
But they will not give me the degree symblo. LOL Oh well.
Thanks,
Bordello -
try what I posted above..
-
Sorry, that was my mistake..... on your Dell laptop hold the Alt and the Fn keys down, then press the 0176 which are in blue on the letter keys.Happy Trails~thirdeye~Barbecue is not rocket surgery

Yep, that works. Darn, I tried lots of combinations but Not That One. :(
Appreciate that. I didn't even realize those numbers were on the letter key.

How can I do it on my Mac Book ? I also have a Mac
-
I braised beef tenderloin at 300° this afternoon.
Very cool. -
On my MacBook, I can create a º by either "FlaMike"s suggestions, which is "Shift"+"Alt/Option" plus "8":
OR, simply "Alt/option" and the number "0".
Hold the "Alt/Option" key down while you press each of the number keys at teh top of the keyboard and see all the characters available!
Just learned something NEW, so now I can just 'go to bed' !
