XL table from scrap

I recently did a deck with a large amount of scrap due to the stock lengths that were required. Thought I would put them to good use and build a table. Most pieces were under 36", so it decided on a corner table. Sure works great.

Really nice looking. What's the top surface made of? What did you use to finish the wood?
I like the corner idea. You can work easily from either side.

The top is made of TimberTech decking. It is a quality composite decking. The frame is cedar with a Behr Premium Stain in natural. I have used many expensive stains in the past, but have had the best luck with the Behr Premium sains.

You should send the picture into the TimberTech decking folks. They would love to see it. I work in the recyling industry and the composites are made with recycled content (scrap plastic - like old shopping bags and other industrial shrink plastics and scrap wood). The composite decking industry took a big hit with the economic decline with new construction being down. Its a great alternative use for their products.

That is a nice looking table. I'm in the planning stages of building a table and am considering composite wood as a top.

Question for you - is that table top water proof at all? That is, will water fall though between the boards if it gets wet? Or is it sealed in some way?
