I am cooking at a local smoke off,(the only egg there or within 50 miles). My wife hears this lady walking by say. That is one of those green egg things, that's not even smoking. It's just like cooking in your oven at home. It's probably best that I did not hear the comment as I would surely have embarassed the little lady once more. My question is how would some of you folks have responded to this ignorant comment.

You can't teach the ignorant, they are beyond teaching, but if you must have some reprisal, just drop a piece of lit lump into her purse, and when she catches on fire, just tell her that must have happened when she got too close to the oven. :evil:

Loved the suggestions. Wish I could think that fast when I need to. Probably something to do with those deceased brain cells. I am a new member, but have been egging and lurking here for about two years. You kind folks have helped me more times then you can imagine. Thank you very much. My advice to any new person with an egg would be to spend a few hours here. It is like a quick PHD in egging.

Don't hate her, feel sorry for her. Her husband probably told her the only way he could cook good food was to use their childs college fund to buy one of those gigantic pull behind pits. If she was awakened to the egg, she might have to divorce her husband! :woohoo:

I would have asked her to define "Smoker" and showed her how the egg matches her description.

I would invite her back when whatever I was smoking was to be done and ask her if her oven could produce smoked food as good as she was eating.

If that failed I would have told her to go home cause she obviously doesn't know what she is talking about and doesn't deserve anymore SMOKED food.

next time.... stop by where she is cooking... give her a couple of beers.... when she takes "walk".... drop a cherrybomb in her smoker and walk away.... it should be the right temp when she gets back and a bang out of it(no one will get hurt).... .... lol ( just kidding) ....
