I have really enjoyed photos from the BIG Fest in ATL. The week before, we attended the Egg Fest of a new dealer in Indiana Amish country. Not exactly Hotlanta, but fun nevertheless. The link for the slide show, hope it works for you.

I'm in for the pumpkin pie.

Since the older Amish learned to bake on a wood fired oven, Baking on the Egg comes naturally to them.
Her pumkin cookies were tasty as well -
I like everything pumpkin. Living down in FL most of my life now, I'm not aware of any Amish folks around here. It would be interesting to see what and if they cook different foods or style of cooking.

That's really interesting. I bet it was fun! Thanks for sharing the photos with us.

In their homes they have a lot of different dishes, but on the Egg that day, it was chicken and pork steaks for the meats and lots of baked goods. they did it all pretty well. Everything from pizza to cream pies.
The big hit of the day was grilled Haloumi cheese. It doesn't melt, it is made for grilling. Squeeze on some grilled lemon, add some oregano, stuff it in a grilled pita wedge, and you got yourself a tasty appetizer. -
Great pictures Deplesis, thanks for the posting

Greetings,
Thanks for the memories, i spent the summers with the Amish/Mennonite communities of farmers in Lancaster Pa. as a kid. There is something to be said for a kind and simple lifestyle. -
I was born in Amish country, gota love the simple life.

They were very tasty...no smoke -
The really love the Big Green Egg. Four different families brought theirs in on wagons the night before for the EggFest and the Dealer who is also Amish sold 6 large eggs at the event. He said he was going to sponsor an EggFest again next year. I asked him how I would know about it and he said to give him a call and he would give me the url to his new web site when he got it up and running.

It was a lot of fun. Very friendly and very curious about our recipes and very willing to share theirs. We'll definetly go back the next time he has one. If anyone in the Northeastern Indiana or Northwest Ohio are would like info on it, let me know and I'll send you Sam's phone number (he has a cell phone). He is a full line Big Green Egg and Meadow Creek BBQ dealer.
