Beautiful Pics Thanks I heard their #s were down
-
That is so awesome bro. Thanks for updating us on their progress. I always enjoy them every year.
-
Michelle they keep passing by about 4-5 days in this area......its a two way migration every year, amazingly, they fly in masses to the same winter roosts, often to the exact same trees, I can tell you they like my ebony trees as hotels. Migration usually starts in October but can start earlier if the weaether turns cold...and reach the volcanic highlands of México in the winter. Then they go back to Canada & the North US the next year...
-
 & I've got two eggies.....a large & a mini...glad you liked the photos mi amigo!!
-
Steve they are stillnow going by in increasing numbers....but compared with other years....there are probably a little less of them....probably by sunday they'll have gone through....
-
Probably yes.....but still great numbers, will keep an eye on them
-
You know Todd...they only choose to sleep in the one half of the tree facing the sunrise...so the sun's warmth gets them early in the morning & dries their wings...otherways they can't fly because of the excess humidity on their wings.......now...how do they know this???? gets me....
-
I did not know that. Cool. I bet if you look closely, you'll see that each one has a litte wrist mounted GPS on their leg, I'm pretty sure that's how they know.
-
 Yeap & some brains too....
-
Gracias Tim isn't it amazing.....I had noticed them already yesterday when I got back from work and was driving up the driveway......they flew a bit with the car engine noice.....but went back to sleep afterwards....
-
Beli,
I hope you can get a picture of them flying through the pass. That is a breathtaking view.

Wonderful!
Are you still working on an Eggfest in Monteray? How about scheduling it for this time of year.
You probably posted pictures, but I cannot remember if you see them in the spring too? That would be another time for the fest, to get more separation with the Eggtoberfest.
For the Friday meet-n-greet, you could get Pato to cater it or meet at some place like El Rey de Cabrito.
As they said in the movie, if you make it, they will come! -
You are such a good person Beli

Amy and I were talking about your Monarchs this morning. Cool pics
-
That's fantastic.
-
Thanks for sharing those wonderful pics, as we never see anything like that here in Maine. Neil
-
Clay, well you chose the very precise day to talk about them.. still very cloudy over the sierra and temp. in the 60's...at this time they've stopped flying & are in the trees...
-
Bob....you have good taste :P ....because Pato would be a guarantee..... let's see if we can fix something... the perfect dates weaetherwise would be April or October
-
Glad you enjoyed it Neil, they are quite an expectacle & I try not to miss it every year..
-
TKS buddy....
-
TKS Bruce they fly heading south all day untill it's time to rest about 5-6 PM then suddenly they start flying in circles to find the trees where they are staying the night.
-
That is too neat Beli. My Humming birds should be passing through your way if not already, They got out of Dodge after that last cold snap before the fest.
-
Eddie....I'll keep an eye for them....

We could get a good tequila (my buy) and drink a toast to Eggs, El Cerro De La Silla, las mariposas, and as many other things as we can think about. -
Bob I'm in anytime...
-
