Who has and uses them. They look very sturdy and well built. Any info from experienced users?

sore subject???

I have and use them all the time. They are quality and allow for raised grid on the small. I use the equivalent of the 'spider' (can't think of the name) along with a pizza stone for indirect. I do 90% of my cooking raised on the small using the longer set.

Have the full set but only use the longer ones. They are very good.
Not sure what you are asking by "sore subject??? " in your note. If you are having a problem say what it is and we can address it or Chubby (godlikeperson) will.
The stuff is first class and so is the builder.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers. -
No problem what so ever. I am completely unfamiliar with the product (and this board for the most part). I am active on other non-related forums and know that there is often "history" that newbies don't know about.
I asked a question about the products and there was silence where there is usually really quick responses. I thought that maybe there was something that had happened that I was unaware of.
No harm intended -
I have them and love em. The large extenders stay in the small egg.

I cannot remember taking them out of my small.
You do need them or somthing to get the grate up on the small and they are so much easier to work with than a brick.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers. -
product available for the Large Egg???
-
Not from Grate Mates that I know of, but there are a bunch of options for the large available from this site: http://www.ceramicgrillstore.com/ceramicgrillstore/The Naked Whiz

Hizzoner,
Many of us large owners use the Ceramic Grill store products. When looking on their web site for similar products for my small, I noticed where the Ceramic Grill store recommended Grate Mates for use on the small. I ordered the deluxe set, seasoned them and have not removed the tall ones since.
Both companies make great, useful products and stand behind them. What more could you ask?? -
Speaking of Misippi Egger...this is another great thing about GrateMates:

I had just read several accounts of "the Spider" but none on the Grate Mate........I guess the fact that Grate Mate doesn't make an option for the Large Egg explains the lack of commentary.
I found Grate Mates product through Naked Whiz's site and liked the sturdiness appeal of it. It look like it would hold a full 16 qt dutch oven well -

Grate Mates get my thumbs up! Give me a lot more versatility in setups on the small."Bacon tastes gooood, pork chops taste gooood." - Vincent Vega, Pulp Fiction
