So I\'m having some folks over this weekend....

BGE Dawg

to watch some football. A few of them have never experienced the BGE. I'm debating on what I should cook. There will be about 10 folks at the house. I'm thinking about a boston butt, smoking it over night, and having it ready by late afternoon for some pulled pork sammiches. However, I've cooked a butt for a couple of the guys that will be over there so I thought about changing it up a bit.

You could still do a butt and add something else after it is off and resting. A few spatchcock chickens, some ABT's or even a few fatties.

Put on a few rack of ribs and then some wings on top of the ribs...wings are appetizers...

I will go to Publix, get some drummettes and pop them in a husge ziploxk bag. In the bag also goes a bottle of steakhouse marinade and in the fridge for a few hours. I cook them direct on the egg until done. They are a big hit and easy as well.

BGE DAWG - you must cook some sort of pork product since we are playing the Razorbacks!
For me, a big hit is always ABT's. They are a great appetizer. I found that chicken wings and ABT's can be done on the same time as I cook them at the same temp and time. People always look at you funny when you tell them something with the word "turd" in it is good but change their minds once they taste one.
How about a Boston butt resting in the cooler and then ABT's and wings for pre-game and game time? -
Ribs...

Cook the butt, but add ribs for the last 5 hours or so.
Everybody likes ribs. If someone in your group doesn't like ribs you probably don't want them around anyways. -
what time should we all come over...
:P  -

Re: "you probably don't want them around anyways", you've got THAT right!!!

I've always thought that just a plain hamburger was perfect for those kind of occasions with the logic being that when your guests see what the Egg can do for a plain old burger, it's not hard for them to imagine what it would do for a steak, etc., etc. A lot depends on the occasion and the company. Just my 2 cents. Mark

Good point, Dawg. I should at least do some ribs to get a good pork consumption going by game time since the Dawgs are going to devour the hawgs.
The ABT's are a good idea as well. As are the wings, etc. Too many possibilities. Man, I love this BGE. -
Like the butt and brisket idea. You simply can't go wrong serving good butt, and non-bbq people seem less familiar with brisket so it adds a nice wow factor. Other than in good a bbq joint, I've never had really good brisket that wasn't done on an egg. Can always make some nachos with brisket or butt meat on them too...
