Is there enough space in a small BGE to effectively indirect smoke/grill? I know the mini is out of the question, but I am waffling on the small...

You can cook indirect on both the small and mini.

A woo from CGS or similar devise and a baking stone is what you need - both my mini and medium have that set up. No problem indirect cooking as shown in Frank's pics.

I am not familiar with a woo from CGS, please explain?

What are the thoughts of letting the drippings of a tenderloin hit the plate set on a small with out aluminum foil or a pie tin?

Advised or not?

How much do you want to smoke indirect? You will have to custom make or buy accessories to smoke on the mini. You have a platesetter and many things readily available for the small.

You can get a good size butt or brisket flat on the small with no trouble. It is very portable and easy to use. I would get the small.

That works fine too, but an aluminum pie tin will be the best.
