Talk about being embarrassed.Tonight I looked under the daisy and could not believe all of the crud that was under it.I can honestly say this was the first time in two years that I have taken a look at it and the only reason I looked was because there was some kind of blockage looking fro the topside down.Might be time to do a look see.

easy way to solve that, when you periodically set your egg to the 'self-cleaning' mode, pop it in the egg & burn it down to bear metalhappy in the hut

Try putting it inside the Egg when closing it up after a cook. I put mine on the back part of the grill when putting the ceramic cap on. The residual heat from the coals seems to cook off the crud underneath the daisy wheel thing.
I didn't come up with this but learned about it here. -
Not too sure about your method as I understand bear meat is pretty greasy so I suspect bear metal might be the same.

Easy for you to say. Not if you were a bear.

If there are bears in Baltimore I am outta of here.Never put it inside of the egg on a 600 plus clean out stage and will do it the next time I want the inside to look like new.I have always put it on the grate after the cooking was done and used the ceramic top to cover it up.Thanks for the info you guys. Please post your method for cooking bear meat.Have a great weekend.

Just gave mine a good cleaning last week. It was full of junk. Solution...EZ Off Oven Cleaner, let it sit, then blast with the hose. Works good now. Sparkling like new too!

I did and won't do it again.

It's the only way to fly!

I do! Just don't do it too high heat or you start to get rust. You still have to brush off the crud, that has been burnt to a crisp...
Before I cleaned mine the first time the daisy wheel would stick when trying to adjuct to temp. Not anymore... -
 , now I get it, just went back & read my reply, never have been a good spellist, friend of mine once asked me for a recipe & I wrote: "you begin with 3 cups of flower".. hope he didn't take that litterally :Phappy in the hut
