Homemade Rigs - Pics Please

I have a few stainless grills and would like to see how some of you folks have made your own racks and or rigs. Thanks.

    no picture but the simplest is standing two fire bricks on their side and then straddle them with one of the grates!

    fire bricks come in pretty handy, you can use them for a variety of setups, even lay them flat for inderect cooking. heres a few if done in the past before getting an adjustable rig. ive never owned a platesetter nor needed one

    i went 6 or 7 years builing the rack different ways, its pretty conveinient, if you lay bricks flat between the verticle ones in the top pick you have an easy inderect setup. the better ones are the skinney style and they are called splits if your looking around for them

    Texas pre-Rig
    Texas Eggfest a couple years ago.
    Had Cast Iron but forgot fire bricks.
    Found a couple pieces of broken brick in the parking lot. Worked great.

    Hi Darian,
    I'm wondering if I can use any type of brick. I have extra brick from our house but I had heard that you have to be careful and that some brick won't take to high heat and may crack or explode. Just wondering if that's true.

    I made the old workhorse...carriage bolts, washers, and nuts.

    Thanks for sending Bret to the Vikings so he could come down to Houston and kick the crap out of the Texans.
    Just kidding, not a Texas sport fan.
    I have seen posts about standard bricks cracking.
    They do make "fire bricks" that are made for high heat.
    I picked up a box at Northern Tool but many places sell them in full and half or split size. I use standard house bricks as well as broken pieces of paver and lawn bricks and have not lost one.
    Glad to see you posting and back in action. Seems like bad things always happen to good people and I'm glad your doing well.

    I just pick up split firebricks from a fireplace store. The must have those in WI ;)

    for the sake of the small cost go to Menard's and buy a box of firebricks or better yet - here's an offer you can't refuse - tell me you and D are coming to Oswego and I'll give you a box of them as a gift!

    Anne you can also order the fire brick online and have them shipped w/free shipping to your Ace Hardware store. That's what I did. Came in with their next order. I think they were from Rutland. The same as the gasket people in case I misspelled that.

    I feel the same way about Brett and to be honest I have a little bit of a bad taste for the Packers Mgmt. Hard not to take things personal, I know it's about money.

    No Atlanta, not into the big crowd thing. I like the smaller fests.
