My used XL just got dropped off last night, and I guess there is good news and bad news. The good news is to my surprise this with the new model of the XL. I was definitely expecting the old model, but sure enough it had the large handle, big wheels and new firering.
The bad news is that the gasket was pretty much all peeled off and that there were no it was taken apart. I think I have the gasket thing solved (thanks to the smoking guitar player's videos), but I am stumped on how to attach the lid to the base. I was at work when it was dropped off and the wife didn't ask a lot of questions. Does any one have a link to the manual or can lend any advice on how to attach this on the new XL Model?
I was a little shocked how big that guy is. According to some of the pictures that I had seen, I expected it to be a lot fatter than the Large, but it appeared to be shorter. This is not the case and they seem to be about the same heighth! I can't wait to test it out.
I also use my Diggi a ton with my large, and it appears I simply need to buy a new peice for it to attach to the XL?
Thanks in advance.

If you have the handle you should have the ring hinge assembly too.
The top ring slips over the edge of the lid and should be snug against the lip that runs round the lid. Tighten down the carriage bolt. I suggest you get help as that lid is heavy.
As for the Digi Q you need the vent adapter for the XL -
Thanks for the help -
First, I am not mechanically inclined at all. However, it appears that this assembly is very different than my Large. There isn't a bolt that needs tighted. Amongst the pieces, there were two springs that are probably an inch or two long. Not other bolts or anything.
The base has some metal pieces hanging off the back and the lid has grooves that it appears they fit in. I assume the springs somehow work with this? -

Huh!!!
The hinge assembly is different, but the rings are the pretty much the same.
Are you saying the previous owner took the hinges apart and not the bands? Good Gawd I hope not..
I am thinking you should take some pictures and post them here so we can see what you are talking about. -
shootme an email and I can scan them to PDF and mail them to you from a new one.

They are way different than the L for sure and can be a lil tricky to put back together and re-align. But get a copy of the instructions. -
PERFECT......

Eddie, Dave and Celtic -
Thanks for all of the help and if I run into any trouble I will let you know.

If I recall from previous posts - you are an Iowan? If so, where about? -

Iowa State Egger,
I'll take a picture of my hinges when I get home and post it. You probably have all the bits.
