I am looking forward to the Egg Feast in Dallas. Since I'm only 21 days and 17 cooks into my Egg (two cooks I went back to the Weber Gas for a quickly and a couple of movie nights). I am sooo hooked on this green thing, that it is driving my kids crazy. But the truth is in the left over’s so I know they love it as much as I do.
However I have been reading many references to Egg Feast but I don’t really know what to expect. What events happen, is there a contest, kid events, Things to buy, Rides, Eating contest, Toss the dog in the bun event, Prizes? Can someone explain the layout and what to expect. I guess the Dallas event will be the first of its kind for Eggs. Do you think it be well attended?
Or is it just a few guys making burgers and ribs and selling gadgets and coal.

I have only been to three. twice to the NH one and once to the Ocala one. both were very different and I think that they all have a basic theme and then the people make it unique! I would go the first time and plan on getting the feel of it eat and enjoy the food and see what everyone is doing. you will learn a lot the NH one had things for the kids and stuff going one thay way. both had door prizes and goodies for the cooks. when you get there there is usually a welcome bag with some things for you, the attendees, too. the host or sponsor store usually has stuff for sale. not much for out side vendors though. there is a meet and great the night before and an after party the night of the fest. LOL and hang overs the morning after the after parties are mostly by the attendees and not so much the hosts

So is there an entrance fee? would I be able to pick up a Woo Rig, Thermapen and stock up on RO coals? Is the food free? how do they make there money? Who are the cooks and how does one apply?

Id be interested in going too. 3 1/2 hr drive north, no biggie.
What would the non cookers do all day? Will demo's be available? -
All that will depend on the organizers. Since I don't see this fest you are talking about listed on the forum it probably would be best to ask them..

The latest word on the Dallas Fest, actually Plano 20 miles north, is that the banner is still being designed and will be up soon. I'm in the loop and should have some definate answers this week. I'll keep everyone updated. The date is set for Nov. 7.

It's just a bunch of Eggheads and friends getting together to enjoy Egg'n together. Most often it is sponsored by a local Egghead dealer, often with the help and participation of the area BGE distributor.
While the dealer usually provides the Eggs, charcoal and a few basic accessories, the participarts (cooks) will provide their own meat, vegetables, desserts, tools, seasonings, etc. The dealer will typically 'pre-sell' the Eggs being used at a discounted price (a great opportunity to pick up a slightly used one).
Depending on the location and other factors, there may be charges for attending but those who will be cooking often can register for free or for less than the regular fee.
Lighting of the Eggs typically starts around 9:00 AM and all cooking should be finished by 3:00 PM in order for the Eggs to cool down to be transported by their new owners.
Children of all ages are welcome and some even help with cooking. But be advised that adult beverages are usually involved.
If you've never been to an Eggfest, or you are totally new to Egg'n, you may want to come as a 'non-cook' for the first one. Use the time to meet your fellow Eggheads, ask questions about recipes, set-up techinques, accessories, etc. You will definitely learn a lot, not to mention meet a lot of really wonderful people who share your enthusiasm.
Here are some videos of the 2009 Texas Eggfest in Austin. They may give you some clues as to what goes on. You will likely see some of these faces at the North Texas Eggfest.
Enjoy...
