My Dad's Egg....I did it!

As some of you know I've struggled over what to do about getting my dad an egg, mini or small and the cost. Today I finally said the heck with it!!! Ah....the trials and tribulations of giving in though!!! I decided to buy him a small, I just didn't want him to have to say that he couldn't do what he wanted, though I know he never would have. I started calling around. NO ONE HAD A SMALL!!!! I spent over an hour calling, in ever expanding circles, to Egg dealers. Finally, I found a dealer in Dothan, almost 90 miles away that had a small in stock. Just to give these guys a plug, it was Hutton Log & Grill Outlet. Talk about a great find!!! They had a wonderful stock and tons of accessories, lots of offset grills, gassers, and cast iron. If you can't find what you need there, they can get it!!!
Anyway, I had a nice drive, put the top down on the Cooper, lit a cigar, and brought the Egg home to dad. He now has a small, plate setter, and several accessories.
Here is what I need next. I've looked over the recipes, but I what I want are some suggestions for some super simple things to get him started. Nothing fancy at all, just basics. I'll show him the spatchcock chicken, and burger and chop basics. Anything with fish and other poultry would be appreciated. Again, they aren't going to be adventurous, just simple stuff.
I'll get him a stash of Dizzy Pig next week!!!

One reason I finally got an egg (Small) was the desire to be able to cook a steak that was out of this world in taste. I'm a lone ranger so just cook for one but that doesn't mean I don't like good eats. In fact, I like A LOT of good eats!! A 1 1/2 inch (or more) steak from Costco with or without a rub is pure heaven for me. I'm experimenting with rubs, marinades, grill height, hot tubbing, sear then grill and grill then sear. Doesn't matter how I cook it, on the Egg it's out of this world!! And, having a Thermapen means it's always done the way I want it.
Happy eats to your dad. -
I think it's neat to see so many female Eggers. My wife is just now expressing some interest in learning what all of this is about. TWO AN HALF (#*$ YEARS!!! and she's just now figuring this out!!!
I've yet to buy myself a Thermapen. I think that may be next for myself and my dad. -
Good job Ron! Your Dad is a lucky man. I saw my first mini and small in real life last week in Nokomis and think the small looks a lot more practical if you can only have one.

I think so as well, sort of. LOL!! I don't know how well I would have taken to egging had my first one been a mini. I also know it will be his only one, so I figured I might as well do it right.

Yep, it was only about 90 miles each way. Besides, it gave me an excuse to drive 80+ with the top down!!!
