Is the small portable?

Last weekend we bought a camper and I said we could get it if I could buy a small for camping. Now my wife read how heavy the small is and she doesn’t think it is portable. I think I would rather have a small over a mini. Any suggestions?

I think the mini would fit T@B Camper better. Both would accent each other nicely

Just tonight I removed my medium from my table, put it into the carrier, and loaded it into the bed of my truck without assistance. Moral of the story is that the small and medium are both "portable" - but it isn't necessarily an easy endeavor.
They are heavy, but the effort is worth it. I tailgate with my mini, but for extended trips I take the medium for the added versatility and capacity. The small will offer you the same features as the medium. -
I have a Mini but I would still say "Hell Yeah! the small is portable!" If you want one to go in the camper so you can bring it on Vacation-absolutely! 65 lbs is transportable!
In my case I need something I can fit in the trunk without taking too much space (small would probably still work) but then I need to be able to carry it around. In the door and up to the second floor. The small would be too much for my back.
In a camper though- a Small ABSOLUTELY! -
Very portable. Just need a small table and your cooking anytime anyplace.
A little closer look if your interested.
You can also take the egg out and flip the table over and set it back down on what is then the top.
The are small but they cook large -
i love the Egg on the boat that is just beautiful

I carry my small around in the car, seated, wrapped in tarp, and secured with seat belt. Sometimes nest goes in trunk but usually just use the feet.

Rooster,
Yes the small is portable. I carry it in the backseat of our car. I lift it easily and take it camping often. Here are a few pics from a recent trip.

Seth,
A mini is great, but a small is BETTER! Here's our small in a $25 Pot-Lifter that I can handle by myself and you know my physical size compared to yours! GO SMALL - after all you two won't be traveling all that much 12 months a year!

I think the small works for the T@B. If I bought a T@G (even smaller) then I would need a mini!

Here is my small warming up for a steak cook last weekend on the Canadian side of the Ottawa River. Just seat-belt the sucker in and away you go.

I don't know Ron, have you seen how scrawny my arms are?
Ya,I need the small. Do you take the innards out? -
Is it easy to grab that table? I was thinking of doing one similar but with handles on the side.
-
The small is the size right. We take it with us ever time we go out.
-
when we travel YES!!! - but really the ring and fire box in a small are small! Again...think of the rest of the time you two will be using that smaller egg! BTW for us our small is our workhorse covering 60% of our egg cooks!Re-gasketing America one yard at a time.

sure. it's heavy-ish, but totable.
you can take the guts out to make it a little easiered egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante -
I am more worried about hitting a bump and having the fire ring and box jumping around in there.
-
I turn the egg sideways, grab 2 of the vertical members and burry it in my belly. Wouldn't want to carry it too far, but it's not bad at all.
-
Nice set up. I think I could park my trailer inside yours!
-
Just stuff in a few old towels.
-
Thanks Ripem!

What is a pot lifter? I mean, I see it and I still don't know.
-
Me too  or me neither

lol my camper would fit in his bed room!
and I would go with the small. you can take the guts out to lift and just pack back in. an old towel between the parts when you pack them back in will give some cushion if you are worried. that is what we used to do. now we just load it and steer clear of bad bumps if we can LOL -
The small is my recommendation, but you will certainly find both opinions here.
I can handle the small easily by myself. I don't take the guts out. It is super great for so many reasons.

i consider my large portable  the smalls firebox seems alot more durable than the large so dont worry about it. my large firebox and ring is in about 10 pieces puzzled together and it still arrives intact somehow. i take it apart to clean and repuzzle it afterwards, it cracked from extreme hot cooking temps of 1200 degrees plus, not from travelling. get the small, seems theres always someone around to help when camping anyways. i bought the small for travel and never took it, i take my large for what its worthfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it
-
which, er, wouldn't happen if you kept the guts out.
anyway, it's not an issue. least never in my case. if you are off roading or somethin, sections of your newspaper will cushion the pieces well enough. lay on in at the botto, put the bowl in, then then another section, etc.ed egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante -
How long is your camper. Mine is only 16 ft.
