I have an table that I almost have finished for my large but I am having trouble finding a 3/4 in thick peice of granite that will be inlaid under my grill.
The 3/4 inch granite will make it flush with the wood.
I then plan on putting Fire Brick on top off the granite for extra heat protection.
I have looked all over the minneapolis area for 3/4" granite.
Can anyone give me some ideas on where i could find it?
I have tried :
2 tile shops
Menards
Home Depot
Please send me your help if you can.
thanks

I went with 1.5" granite, that the company that made my counters cut, then used the feet on top of that for airflow. You should be able to get a piece cut at any granite kitchen counter place from their offcuts in at least a few different thicknesses.

So if i went with 1.5 inch granite i would not need the fire brick then?

Fabricators of granite will have remnants in back of their place of operation. That's how we bought our granite for our bathrooms.
They generally have all types and sizes. Look in your local yellow pages under granite. -
How big a piece and what color, I think my sister might have a black piece from an old bar top.

Not in my opinion. But still use the feet, it's the air under that keeps it all cool.

find the Granite Transformations franchise near you -
they can build a piece of granite to almost any thickness by adding aprons around a wood substrate
I know a guy that has a Granite Transformations top built for his table and it is beautiful!
