CAD Model of Large Egg

Any eggheads gone so far in designing their table, man cave or other egg-tastic outdoor cooking area as to seek out CAD model files of the BGE?
In lieu of that, are there dimensioned prints available from which I might create such a beast without taking multiple cross-sectional measurements to model it up?
I searched the forum for "CADD" and "CAD" and didn't see any hits with those terms in the subject.
Any links or help is greatly appreciated. If I can't find any existing files, I'll model them up and make them available to all.

I've never seen any - my thoughts are that they would be proprietary. To build a 3D model I would just measure min and max diameters externally and internally and join by conical extrusion, noting that the rate of area reduction varies - but you could simulate that by just taking additional measurement points.
Sorry, I just dorked-out a bit there.

I went to get a design last week for chairs for "The Nest". She uses CAD, I had no idea what she was talking about. I had on an egg t-shirt took a brochure & a bag that I got at Waldorf. She said even if I could get the art work for the egg would be a good start.

Anyone out there work for a surveying firm that has 3d scanning technology. Definitely not worth paying someone to scan it but if anyone had access to the equipment, it should be pretty easy to do... all you would really need is the external scan.

I did a 3D model to design my outdoor kitchen using Google skethup (completely dimensioned). Has a pretty good model of the BGE. I can send the file to amy one interested.

i'd extrude by rotation a pair of bezier splines, myself, outlined against a projection of the BGE (a photo taken in elevation.
but that's me dorking out in my own way.

I'm interested, Frank. jvanloon67@gmail.com
thanks. -
That's a much better idea, actually. For some reason my brain has always worked better visualizing linear rather than radial extrusions.
Thanks for joining me in this dork fest ;-) -
I'd have to sell my soul to the devil to get AutoCad on my machine then get him to lend me his BGE to model from! The rest would be easy.

Jason,
I have not had the pleasure of meeting you but I am glad you made it back to the forum. -
I'll see if my guys might do one with Inventor 11

heck
i wouldn't even use ACAD. too proprietary. not a lot of good export options to other platforms beyond dxf.
hahaha
a nice procedural texture, maybe noise in the bump channel, with specular and reflection channels, a little fresnel fall-off...ed egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante -

I would like a copy 4koko at charter.net

Thanks! Indigo at swva.net -
Thanks Frank. I am have used Cadkey and Visi at work. I will have to sit down and try Sketchup.

If anyone is still looking for a CAD model of the Large Egg, I created and uploaded it to this site for general use. It is in SolidWorks format. http://grabcad.com/library/outdoor-kitchen

I saw Stike's Post and said the same thing about Fred!
In fairness it may have taken since 2009 to draw up the plans
