Table for an X-Large
EGGARY
Posts: 1,222
Plan on getting an X-Large EGG in the next two months. Is it cheaper to make a table then to buy the table that BGE sells ? Any plans to be able to make table.

I made my cypress table from the plans that BGE offers for about $150. including casters, The last BGE table I saw for an XL was around $500.

Thank you. I printed both. The plans from NAKEDWHIZ is for the Large, Medium, and Small. From having the plans from BGE that the plans for the NAKEDWHIZ can be modified.

The dimensions of the BGE table are perfect for the BGE XL table cover. Something to consider if you want a cover.

Good idea. So the cost of getting the EGG is coming down. Good job, Panhandle.

GTI...Just curious, what made you decide on the XL?

A buddy took the plans and modified them a bit (I have large). Used 4X6 posts at the sides and 4X4 in the center (hooked to a 2X4). This was built to take to competitions.
The thing is a tank, but if your trying to hold an XL, think about that weight. The plans look like its quite mobile, but the damn thing weighs a ton.

That seems way overkill to me. I built my XL table pretty much just like the plans call for on the BGE site. It's still fairly heavy and very solid. Plenty of support. No need for 4x6's at all. 4x4 would be on the extreme side as well. Where you have to take care with the XL table is in securing the lower shelf to the side posts. Use good wood, and drill holes through there and use 3/8" bolts, not just screws or nails. The top shelf isn't load supporting per say, so you can just use good wood or deck screws for it. Use a quality wood glue as well, coat it with a quality paint or poly stain, and it'll last nearly as long as your grill will.
