Mother\'s Day Prime Rib

Special meal for my mom and bride for Mother's Day. Prime rib, twice baked potatoes, and corn on the cob
Picked up a 19# bone in rib eye roast. The butcher removed the bone and tied it back on. It was way too big for mother's day so I cut 4-2" steaks out of it. Had two of them last night. Going on beef overload this week.
Prime Rib - made a smear with
1/2 C Zatarain's creole mustard
1/2 C fresh rosemary
1/2 C chopped garlic
1/2 C olive oil
Let the smear do its job overnight.
Raised grid at 250 grate until 125*. Wrapped in foil and put it in a cooler for about 45 minutes. Put the platesetter in and kicked up the temp to finish off the potatoes and corn.
Mom, dad and my bride loved it.
Happy mother's day to all the moms in Eggland

Thanks Doug - in Houma for the weekend. Great weather for mom's day around here.

Good move on deboning and retying. Great looking roast. I've had one steak in the last 3 weeks, not much of a desire for beef right now. But my seafood and fish craving hasn't waivered much. :woohoo:

Frank- that's gorgeous and you got it done to just the color I like.

Frank that prime rib looks incredible! The potatoes look great too. Just got back from brunch but that's making me hungry. Where in the world are you right now? Texas or ????

I'm in Houma for the weekend. Back to Corpus Christi in the morning.

T'was a beautiful prime rib I egged last night for my Mother's Day treat for my sweetheart and then this morning I egged us a breakfast of bacon, eggs and pancakes on the Griddle-Q.
Both meals were such a hit that she's cooking supper for me tonight - some surprise but I know the meat is chicken breasts.Re-gasketing America one yard at a time. -
Frank....you are killing meeeeeeeeee..... :woohoo:

That looks perfect. Makes me wanna lick the puter screen!!! :woohoo:

Frank...That looks like about as perfect a prime rib as I've seen in a long time! :woohoo: You made this 'tiny meal' for 4??? Or was that 24??
Awesome cook, including your sides! -
Very nice I bet it tastes as good as it looks
-
It was for five - my youngest son joined us. But I always send the my folks home with plenty left overs - my mom loves it. My mom is an outstanding cook but at 83 she loves it when her best (only) son comes by with egged food.
Bonus: Cut up the rib bones and put them back on the Egg for 1-1/2 hours - sauced with some SBRs. They are mightyfine.
