Crabapple tree?

A trash truck sideswiped my neighbors crabapple tree and took down half of it. He's out there with the chainsaw cutting it up. Any good for smoking?
Guy driving just kept on going.

    If he has some large (at least 4 inches diameter) sections, have him cut them into 2-3 inch slices and let it season for a couple months. Then you can split each section into chunks with a hatchet or something. I'd avoid the small stuff because it has too much bark (tends to taste like burning leaves) and at this season will also have a lot of sap.
