I just want to remind everyone not to be careless when decreasing egg temps. Last night I overshot my 400 goal by 100 degrees and closed both vents significantly. After several minutes I decided to brush the grate and opened the dome. Most of you know what happened next. I'm missing some hair on my arm, eyebrows, eyelids and scalp. It could have been a lot worse!

This past weekend I cooked some pizzas on my egg at nuclear temps (750+). I wanted to listen to the sizzlin' cheese, so I put my ear over the top vent and instantly smelt and heard my hair singe around my ear. After moving away I asked myself "Why do I always do dumb things?"

What seems to be working fine in my Triune Brain, is the R-complex (reptilian brain) as the survival instinct kicks in and it is fight or flight, and the first time this happen I dropped the lid (fortunately w/o damage).
nooBBQ,
