Really, have the BGE gaskets always been this crappy? I just got a new lid, that came with the grey gasket on it. Cooked with it half a dozen times, yesterday had the egg up to 600 for an hour or so while waiting for people to arrive so I could just burn some burgers and have dinner ready post-haste. Well, opened the grill and the gasket fell off, all in one piece, no glue no nothing on the lid.

I'm glad I didn't have food on there, and i am glad I don't have to scrape the lid to put a nomex gasket on, but seriously wiskey tango foxtrot?

That is a well know common problem as of recent times, just call BGE and complain and they will send you a new NOMEX gasket, you will have to buy some 3M super 77 glue at WMT to apply it with. good luck mine did the same as yours on the 3rd cook.

Similar thing happened here on my wife's father's egg this past saturday... it was rolling at 600 while guests came so we reduced temp to 450-500, just to save lump, and when ready, oops... lid was sealed shut!

I raised back to nearly 700°F and still it wouldn't budge... We had to bang it open with a wooden stake and little taps...

I have a nomex replacement gasket that BGE so kindly sent home, but honestly, since using it without a gasket (while I was waiting for the mail) I realized that you don't really need a gasket if you're careful and not bang the lid shut...

I used mine for several months w/out a gasket, and the only issue I found was on long smokes. I did a brisket that I couldn't bring the temp down on a windy day with all the vents closed hahah.

Here's hoping nomex works better. I sure as hell will install it with less gasket hanging on the inside too, that type of install seemed just lazy to me.
