Ceramic Deep Baking Dish

<p />If you like to cook pies on the egg these are great.I have cooked Tomatoe and Vidalia onion pies using these and they come out perfect every time.The ceramic is real thick ane the top and bottom of the pies cook evenly.You can cook 2-9 inch pies on the large egg at one time.

Here are the recipes.They are very simple and tasty.
Larry[p]Tomatoes,bacon and cheese make up this yummy pie.
1 9-inch deep dish frozen pie shell
3 medium,ripe tomatoes,sliced
6 strips bacon,fried and crumbled
1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
1 cup mayonnaise
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
Bake frozen pie shell following package directions.Preheat egg to 350 degrees.Place tomatoes in bottom of pie shell;top with crumbled bacon.Combine cheese,salt,pepper and mayonnaise;pour over tomatoes.Bake 35 to 40 minutes on a raised grid using a Ceramic Deep Baking Dish .

YB,[p]I have had that dish for 3 years and never used it for anything but a deep dish pizza that didn't work. I never got around to doing the pumpkin in it but I will try that onion pie.[p]Thanks Larry[p]Tim

Your welcome...I think you and Jan will like the onion pie.The tomatoe pie has been a hit here also.I got the recipe for the tomatoe pie out of the Georgia Farmers Market Bulletin that comes out every week and has a recipe in it that has something that is Ga.grown.

Thanks for the receipes - I'm anxious to try them both but I do have some questions about the pie crusts.[p]In the first pie (Tomaotoe, bacon & cheese) The shell is baked first - I'm assuming this is done in an oven. Does that mean the aluminum foil pie pan is placed in the ceramic dish after it is baked?[p]In the 2nd pie (Onion) the shell is unbaked - is it also in an aluminum pie pan or can a shell be placed directly in the ceramic dish.[p]Thanks,

I have started buying Mrs Smiths deep dish pie shells and cooking them for 12 minutes in the oven.Then put the filling in and cook on the egg.I leave the pie shell in the aluminun pie pan.I cook both the onion and tomatoe pies this way now.I think in this picture you can see the pie pan in the ceramic dish.
