Put a few racks of back back ribs on a few hours ago and did them with a memphis style dry rub. Was planning on just leaving them on for 4-5 hours at around 250-300.
Just 'tasted' my rub and realized it's a bit too spicy/hot; I prefer this way but we have some company coming over and think it might be too spicy for them.
Any suggestions on toning down the heat a bit at this point? Maybe drizzle some honey?.
Learned a lesson to try my rub before drowing my ribs in it (was too early in the morning when I made it and was still having coffee...did not seem like an appealing combo at the time)

Pull out the ribs and wash it off. Put the ribs back in to cook.

if I wash off should I rerub or no need?

This happened to me once and I used a clean white cloth moistened with apple juice to rub some of the rub off. I then heavily sprayed the ribs with some of the remaining apple juice. This did help in toning down the heat.Everyday is Saturday and tomorrow is always Sunday.

Baste with a little apple juice and then finish with a sweet style sauce at the end it will cut the heat right out.

Heavy spritz and baste, and then end with a good que sauce. Maybe add some extra beer during foil phase and put ribs meat side down to dilute rub.

grabbed a few of my kids apple juice boxes and used them to 'wash' some of the rub off along with a brush.
Worked out really well, ribs went over great. Only problem is no left overs.
Have never foiled ribs, does it make a big diff.?
Got good results just being lazy and leving the in egg for about 4 hours. -
Now you gotta go out and get junior some more apple juice.

Hey City.... Great debate that will likely never end as to foil, or not to foil. My husband Bubba Tim and I, are definately NOT foilers. (much debate regarding foil and Altzheimers...and not). We do NOT foil. My advice...If you get successful results without foil, KEEP it that way!! Keep on eggin!!!
