The day got off to a great start
Arrived this morning, snagged it off ebay for 29 bucks shipped.
I cleaned out the egg and loaded with fresh Full Circle(only decent stuff I can find) and Jack Daniel's barrel chips. Threw on two fatties for an afternoon snack. One each of regular and hot. Rolled in JH Pecan, wrapped in bacon and hit it with black pepper
"Plowboy" has some character(note the small chip and bent ring )
Now for the ribs...
Here is the theme
My parents were vacationing in Texas, and stayed overnight in Memphis. They brought some goodies home
Glaze
Modded Gaulden's Glaze
1/3C Dijon
1C brown sugar
1/3 C cider vinegar
T of coarse grained mustard
splash or two of No. 7
Spritz
1/2 C H2O
1/2 C cider vinegar
splash or two of No. 7
Setup
Platesetter legs up, 3 equally cut firebricks, drip pan, and then Steve Raichlen's rib rack laying on the drip pan. 1hr in, rotated and sprayed
2hrs in, rotated and sprayed
We had a little fun with this. I did 4 different half racks. Dry, Sauced, Glazed, and Glazed w/ Sauce. Here are pics of each plate...
DRY
SAUCED
GLAZED
GLAZED W/ SAUCE
I cannot take credit for the sides. My parents brought back BBQ baked beans on ice yesterday from Gary's Catfish and BBQ in Lebanon, MO. They were really good.
I personally liked the dry ribs best, everyone else favored the glazed with sauce ribs.
Finally finished up around 8pm. Had to relax(and stick to the theme  ) after a long day...
Thanks for taking the time to read. I apologize for all the pics but I very seldom get a full day to egg and I had an itchy trigger finger

Great pics.. Must have been a fun day !!
I used to prefer babybacks but the more I cook spares, the more I enjoy them so now it's a toss up for me. Cooked spares lot for competitions, began scoring better than babybacks and they grew on me. -
Nice cook. I have the itch to do ribs again. I prefer glazed ribs myself, but all of your ribs look deeeeelish.

Looks like a fun day, food looks great.

Looks Great! Sounds like your folks like to bring "care packages" for you. See if they are willing to adopt. Ribs look great! Nice job!

Great looking. Here's a tip for you with the Rendezvous rub. I use it exclusively for corn on the cob--egg style. Boil corn on the cob, and then cut the corn off of it. I then place it in a aluminum pan with butter and the rub...let it sit in the egg while the rest of your dinner is finishing. Everyone who has tried it states it's the best corn they have ever had!

A great set of BBQ pic's! Think I'll sample the glazed and sauced ribs, he he, if you don't mind.
Thanks for sharing! :cheer: -
XYRN2B, that looks awesome!
I am new to the forum and after reading your post I had to go check out the Weight Loss Forum! It was lonely over there so I came back.
Those ribs are an inspiration. I'm going to start doing my homework, I can feel a research project coming on. I didn't know there were so many ways to do ribs.
No need to apologize for all the photos, the drool factor is incredible. :P :P
Gotta love this forum!!!

Is your rub available?
Bluecrab3,
Thanks for the corn tip. I will give that a try come corn season The whole spices(especially allspice) jumped out at me in this rub  No big deal, just ran it through a medium grind.BrandonQuad Cities

Spring "Dirty Ol'" Chicken
Spring Texas USA -
Is that something new or old as I've never seen one like it before. Is it from BGE or is it aftermarket?
Thanks -
BBQed,
I purchased the egg used. I think it is around ten years old or so. I'm not sure the years that BGEs had the auto lock hinge :unsure:BrandonQuad Cities

XTRN2B...
That was like a science experiment! How did you get your family to wait for dinner while you all those pics? I'm with ya on the "Manny" in the last pic. You're obviously a classy egger.
