I bet that you are a happy camper now.At first glance I thought that it might have been a high temp cook but with what was in the pot I think not.I take it that your blood pressure has dropped?

That clean-up is actually pretty impressive. I never tried Oxy-Clean. Is it THAT good??
-
Darnoc,
I use the ECI in the egg all the time and I was pretty sure it would come back. The question of cleaning burt stuff comes up pretty often and I am always reccommending the oxy clean. I put it in the garage last night (to freeze) and when I saw it this morning I thought had put an ECI lid on a CI pan. I was a little nervous though

Salty Dog,
For cleaning burnt on stuff...yes. If I really scorch something I use Oxy-clean, Zep orange clean from HD and dish soap. Sometimes you have to repeat it if its really bad but worth it for the cost of these things.

Just messing with ya buddy but I do need help with the drapes. -
Pat,
Oh I've got an idea for laundry alright, what dryer cycle would you like to be in, Normal or extra dry?

He can't reach that high   come to think of it I can't either

OK you can prevent the scrubbing and Oxy-Clean bath if you coat the outside with a light coat of dish soap BEFORE you start cooking.
The soot will adhere to the soap and you just wipe it off with a damp towel.
I could have sworn I have said this more than a few times.. :woohoo: -
Pete,

Just don't try it on Regular Cast Iron..
I suppose I should warm the swamp mud crawler not to soap the INSIDE of the pot too.. :woohoo: -
Willie,
I don't know, three scoops, I just poured it in. The sink is pretty big though. I buy it at Costco in a big box.

Wow - I'm going to try that on my 5 qt. round. The inside is stained from all the onion browning and bean cooking it sees... I haven't dared to use it on the Egg yet but if the Oxy works that well, I might get up the courage some day.Egging in Crossville, TN

nice job steve!! norma must have been real happy when she saw that pot!!
what i do is wrap foil around mine so clean up is much easier. -
try my soap trick.. Cheaper than foil and aids in the cleanup
-
mkc,
It brings the inside up like new, or you could try rubbing the whole thing with dish soap before you use it. You probably get used to the taste after a while.

Wow thanks for the tip. I used a brand new LeCreuset piece for a drip pan under some ribs. I thought it was beyond saving after I scrubbed it for an hour. I'll have to try that trick.

Harleydog77,
If it's really bad you may need to do it several times. I mada a stock about six years back with saved cornish hen carcasses was going to let it simmer all night but I left the heat too high. Woke up in the middle with the fire alarm going off. The smell was aweful but I got the pan back.
