I heard a neighbor chainsawing this weekend, but figured they were taking out more of their problem pine trees. Left for work this morning and what do I see piled up at the street? The remainder of a 10" diameter cherry tree!! I immediately loaded up as much as I could in the truck. Tonight I'll be chainsawing into disks for drying.

I love smoking with cherry, especially any kind of chicken.

That is sweet! I like using cherry with chicken and turkey. Good flavor and if it gives the skin a great color.

One of my neighbor has apple trees that need to be pruned I am trying to get up the nerve to ask if I can do it for him.

While he may not want you doing the actual pruning, people usually respond well to offers of helping with the cleanup. That's really what you are after anyway.

Of course if he lets you prune, you can claim you just couldn't seem to get the tree to look balanced when he finds out you pruned them all the way to the ground and have a nice big pile of apple wood at your place.

No need for the whole tree I already have a pile of oak, ash, maple, walnut and enough locust to heat my shop for three years! I don't think he ever prunes the trees he would never miss a branch or two. I may just wait until the weight of the apples brakes off a branch and then offer to clean it up. :evil:
