I went with the regular probe (same one that's on the Thermapen) and also the small diameter super fast one, 2 second response time. It should be slick on burgers, seafood, sausage and the like.
The features that interested me were water resistance, hold feature and it has a built in magnet to stick to the fridge.
Happy Trails

Nice, are they about the same price?
never mind, that small I'd probably lose it :S -
Should be cheaper. When I purchased a refurb Thermopen I was checking that out. The hand held unit is $43.00 and the probes run at $30.00 each.

You got it, congratulations.
I thought the super thin probe was the same as the super fast thermopen - I didn't look at the specs that closely.
You probably have started a wave of sales for Thermoworks.

you might look at Omega Engineering for other mini K type probes. Hopefully they will work. That way you can use it on long low and slows or play in the lump too.

I've had my regular size Thermapen with the removable probes for over a year now. I purchased it with the small diameter 2 second probe and it is very fast.
This little one looks intriguing but I'm not sure if I would like being able to adjust the angle of the handle like on the regular sized one. -
I've been using one of these for a couple of months and love it. I only have the small diameter probe and it's practically instantaneous. I'm going to be picking up some other K probes to go with it soon.
The magnet feature is great. Only problem is with the operator. I used to keep my thermometer is a specific place in the kitchen. I got this one and one day thought I'd just stick it on the fridge. Of course the next time I went to cook I tore up the kitchen looking for it until SWMBO asked what that little white thing was on the side of the fridge. Won't be forgetting again . -
Just ordered mine on Wednesday.
***ADDED TO POST** Thermoworks customer service is excellent!! There was a problem with the visa gift card I used to place the order. I got a personal email that included the phone number of the person I needed to talk with. It should arrive next Friday!!! -
I've got the same unit, and I really like it a lot. Was torn between thermapen and MTC, and went with the new, untested model.
No regrets, either!
