Has anyone built a nest for the egg out of composite wood?

    I've been thinking about building a table with composite and have come to the conclusion that any support structure should be wood and any non-support stuff will be OK.

    I believe the composite would eventually sag unless really over built. Just my opinion after building several decks.

    not sure of the durability in an exterior application. OTOH somebody posted a table here he built using scrap Ipe wood. In case you'll not familiar with Ipe just read this. That will be one table that will last for generations!

    I wouldn't build a table for my egg with composite wood. You should run down to the lumber store and get the hardest wood they have. Ask them if they have any morning wood on hand...

    Sorry to be a Johnny come lately... But I too have been considering building my BGE table out of a composite material.  That being said I wanted to see if anyone had issues with sagging?  It seems that if these decks can hold up hot tubs, that they should be able to hold a BGE.  Thoughts?

    My previous table was made of wood on all the support pieces and I replaced the top and middle shelf with composite deck boards. I used the newer type of boards with the exterior shell(co extruded). It worked fine and I had no problems with heat around the cutout. It cleaned up very easily with mild soap and water or typical counter sprays such as 409.
