I have a rusted daisy wheel can I just take it apart and clean with my bench grinder soft side wire wheel and then spray paint it with bbq black paint? or is it better to season it? I have used it a few times aftr i had a burn off in the oven now I got to do it again and then get the rust off for the inside should I just use steel whool cuz cant get it inside with the grinder wheel Thanks

If it is not very rusty a little cooking oil will get it back to good as new.

I would knock the loose stuff off with a hand held wire brush, coat it with lard or vegetable oil and put it in the Egg after a cook.

Spray with food release.. (PAM)

not sure the new ones are painted. they are black, sure, but look pretty "metallic" if you ask me.
hey bobby-Q, they painted, er what?
if they are, mine isn't painted any more.
i just store it in the egg, and it stays seasoned. (except my small daisy, which is physically fused to the egg and won't come off)ed egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante -
When I shut the egg down, I put the "daisy wheel" in the egg and put the ceramic top on the egg. I've only had mine since labor day, but there is no rust.

Like Buckethead said - Just spray it with some Pam and store in your Egg.
