I do them direct, raised grid around 375 with a chunk or two of cherry for added color.

I cook my brats slow and turn often. Direct, 300 dome temp till done (20 minutes).

I love beer brat's. Simmer in a cast iron pan or pot with some onions, butter and about two cans of lager beer- egg at 300-325 dome, then finish by grilling direct until you get some nice grill marks- again around 300-325 dome on a raised grid. Serve in a good bun with mustard, pickle relish and potato chips on the side. And to drink, beer!

About how long do you simmer?
Looks great.
Brats are not a traditional southern food, but I had some once when visiting in Wisconsin when I was in high school and they were great - now that was about 1000 years ago - and I still remember it. -
Looks like a great lunch.
I don't care for the beer soak
before cooking. Waste of beer.
What is the news on the new flip ring
for the XL?

Thanks. Yeah, Wisconsin makes really good brats, many butcher shops here make it 'homemade' and it's easy to get it fresh.
Simmer for 1 beer. (that's beer time talk... for 20 minutes) :woohoo:
Here are some beer brats with sauerkraut and spoon drop dumplings. Yeooooozzzzzaaaaa. Good winter fair.

I typically soak brats in beer and onions after the cook, usually when I need to keep them warm for a long time, parties and such.
On xl stuff, still playing and fine tuning. Twww.ceramicgrillstore.com ACGP, Inc. -

Hey, 20 minutes? You guys drink your beer pretty slow. :woohoo:
