Has anyone ever seen enhanced pork products at Costco? The reason I ask is that I bought 8 pound loins there to cut into 2 pounders for Buckboard Bacon gifts. I started my cooks yesterday and they seemed to go very fast even at temps. below 200. There was also a lot of surface moisture on the meat during the cook. Thirdeye mentioned that they may have been enhanced. I normally check for those 10% solution labels, and don't recall seeing one or I wouldn't have bought them. However, I guess anything is possible. Just wondering if anyone has any info. on this. Seems like they were Swift products.
Many Thanks.
Mike

I checked on the costco swift babybacks friday and didn't see any indication it was "enhanced".
just checked the swift tenderloins I have in the freezer, and no indication it's in solution either. -
I buy a lot of meat at Costco and have never had any that was labeled as - or that acted as - enhanced.
That being said, I have never purchased loins there. Tenderloins, chops, spares, baby backs, and hams - but not loins. -
Thanks, Man. I know my dome temp. is correct. I guess they are just cooking quickly.
Thanks again.

I sure didn't think so. Thanks for the reply.

Hi LR
I have sold millions of lbs to Costco meat department over the years. I have seen them fire a shrimp supplier for glazing their shrimp with water and not telling them. (tens of millions of pounds of shrimp.) The only enhanced or marinated products will be clearly marked, such as a lemon pepper flavor or other flavor blend. They are the best to the member when it comes to offering the best product for the best price. I think you will now find their baby backs with the membrane removed.
Best Christmas wishes
Doug -
I'm convinced.
Thank you, Sir!
Merry Christmas to you.

Buckethead and LR,
I have bought several tenderloins from Costco and none have been enhanced. By the way, Cosyco has recently been removing the membrane from baby-backs.
