I've read about making your own bacon and picked up a Pork Loin, but I'm having a helluva time finding a cure. I'm looking at my Walmart, Winn Dixie, and Publix in the same place they keep the salt but I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for. Is this something you can make?

I ordered mine online from Mortons, but you may be able to find some at a Bass Pro shop, or a little country store.

Tender Quik is what your looking for.

Morton's Tender Quick or their Sugar Cure. You can order both from Morton's: http://morton.elsstore.com/view/category/178-meat-curing/
I got mine at an Amish grocery store, but I've seen it at Walmart and Fleet Farm in the canning section.
Here's pics and my recipe:

I have used Hi mountain cures to do mine. You can get it at bass pro. I have found it at farm supply/ general store close to my house, also. I have used Mortons tenderquick with success.

I ordered mine “on line” at there site. No problem and good service.
Enough said.
