New Large/Small BGE Table!!!!

Using Google's free 3D rendering program SketchUp, my Dad whipped up a mock-up of a BGE table to hold my Large/Small Eggs.
After undergoing a couple revisions with slight modifications, construction commenced.
Then around 8:00 last night, he pulled up to my house and delivered the almost-finished product!!!!!
I'm still in shock of how amazing it came out. It is built solid, and will no doubt last a looooooong time. I also can't believe that he started this project on Saturday morning, and delivered the table on Sunday night. That's insane!
In a couple weeks, he's going to come back over and we're going to sand it and put some kind of seal/weather-proofing coat on it. In addition, we want to add some extras like mount a heavy-duty power strip, a cast-iron bottle cap opener, and a can-crusher. Also, he just threw together some scrap-wood to make the "small-raiser"... so he wants to re-do that at some point.
A little later, I'm going to take my good camera and snap a bunch of pics from different angles. Stay tuned! :woohoo: :woohoo:
Now, to find where to nominate my Dad for the "Best Dad Ever" award...

Thanks! After the table was in place, and the Eggs were in it, I did a quick spatchcock chicken to break it in.

Nice table - lots of working area.
I think I would put a paver (like one the table is sitting on) instead of a tile under the Egg. -
That is a GREAT looking set up! I'm sure you're going to get many years of enjoyment from it.

Yeah, we were thinking about it... is the only reasoning behind that to shield the wood from heat coming off the egg?
During my next cook, I'm going to take out my laser-temp-gun and crawl under the table... then check the temp of the wood under the egg to see if any heat is coming through. -
Thank you! The cool thing about SketchUp is that you can make your mock-up exactly to scale... we looked at making the table 6 feet in length, but it seemed a little short. Then 8 feet, which seemed a little long... so we went with 7 feet, which is perfect!

Cool table! You should be right proud of both your table and your Dad. Since you have already said your Dad wants to replace the riser may I suggest he does like I did and make that riser the carcass for a drawer. I used metal ball bearing sliders. While it doesn't hold a lot of things it sure is a safe place for small items and tools.

Great looking table! I had tile under my mini and it cracked from the heat. Now I use the feet in addition to a stepping stone.

Oh wow, that's interesting. I'm going to take temp readings to see exactly how hot the tile and wood under the tile is getting... but I'll probably end up swapping out the tiles with something a little more robust.

Even a single paver will char the wood underneath. USE the feet that came with the egg.

As you can see in the pic, I've got them sitting right beside the eggs... was so excited and in such a hurry to do the inaugural cook on the new table that I forgot to put the feet in!

Yes. I have seen a few photos posted with cracked tiles. That is one nice table you will enjoy for many years.

Use a stone (not a tile) and feet.
what kind of wood is that? The frame looks like P.T.
If it is P.T.,you may need to wait several months before applying a finish. -

That is a nice table! I love the size of it since the one thing I wish I did was make it longer. My only recommendation is to put something in front of the stone it's sitting on so that any sparks that come out of the bottom vent don't land on the table. I was looking at mine the other day and and got a little worried seeing the charred spots.
