I can't really say why...... but...
I need some specs on a couple of planes and I am pulling my hair out trying to find something somewhat official.... like if one were to go to court (this has nothing to do with Brent's cases).
I need to find the weight capacity & cubic (?) capacity for the following:
Boeing 727 C
Boeing 737 QC
and
C-130 Hercules.
I've done lots of google searches but I'm not really finding anything that I would walk into a courtroom with.
Any help/ ideas would be greatly appreciated and just might be rewarded with something uber cool (naturally)

Kind of an odd question, not sure what you are looking for. -RP
-
This should be a start:
C-130H
Payload: 45,000 lb (20,000 kg)
Useful load: 72,000 lb (33,000 kg)
Empty weight: 83,000 lb (38,000 kg)
Max takeoff weight: 155,000 lb (70,300 kg)
Boeing 737QC
Cargo Capacity 23.3 m³(822 ft³)
Maximum weight 62,820 kg(138,500 lb)
Weight Empty 32,700 kg(72,100 lb)
Boeing 727C
Maximum Weight 169,000 lb (76,818 kg)
Zero fuel weight 100,000 lb (45,360 kg) -
Google "useful load" for each and see what that produces.
Basically the useful load of any airplane is what the airplane can carry including fuel. -
A lot more specs are found here, but you will need to dig through the tech manuals.

Basically I need to know what the cargo/ freight capacity of those airplanes are.
-
727 C
Max Taxi Weight: 170,000 lbs
Max T.O. Weight: 169,500 lbs
Max Zero Fuel Weight: 132,000 lbs
Max Landing Weight: 142,500 lbs
Max Payload: 14,000 lbs
Fuel Capacity (3 Tanks) 51,670 lbs
737 QC
Max. Taxi Weight: 125,000
Max. Take Off Weight: 124,500
Max. Landing Weight: 99,000
Max. Zero Fuel Weight: 88,000
Basic Empty Weight: 65,193.2
C-130 H.
Way too much info on the Herc but it's all laid out here. -
ok - that helps. I will pick thru it and see if I can find what I'm looking for. Its hard because it has to be those specific planes and there's not much out there about the QC.
ugh
thanks!! -
sweeeeeeet
Did you find that on the Boeing site? -
I tend to steer away from wikipedia, but I'll bet those pages have some good citations & links......off to explore!
Thanks! -
Ah - yep - I found that one and printed it off. My stack is getting higher!!
-
hmmm.....
ok -now I guess the part I really need is the cubic capacity of the cargo hold. -
That will depend on the freight configuration. It can vary from flight to flight and whether or not it's configured for passengers.
The 130-H is carries human cargo, but never as a primary configuration. Even when it's used for troop drop missions it is cargo configured. -
Yeah - all of these would be for flight crew only and all cargo. Its amazing how much you can fit in those things!
-
Melissa try here for you volume question.
http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/c-130.htm
An excellent site for military information.
Cargo volume varies. Some cargo aircraft have a dip in the roof that the wing structure goes through so the height is not the same all the way down the aircraft. Also with aircraft that have a ramp like the C130 you can place cargo on the ramp too but there are additional weight restrictions for that cargo. -
ok - that one is going in the final stack. Just what I needed! Thank you!!
now if only I could find the other two..... -
-
My recollection (and I have no expertise) is that such planes are not configured based on cubic volume but on weight (payload.) That's because the plane is designed with a certain amount of "lift" based on weight. Think of the number of passengers a plane can carry if they are all 300 pounds versus the number if they are only 120 pounds.
But that doesn't help you much, does it . . . -

Rumage around on the FAS site. They have every weapons system in the US and data on them. There also is areas on other countries weapons. Seeing that airline aircraft are used as cargo aircraft you may find a country using them and thus data on the two your looking for. The QC I'm gathering is a cargo model so you've got a chance there. From memory there are countries with 747 and 707 cargo aircraft in inventory so you've got a shot at finding the others your looking for too.
As a search option find a company with that aircraft available for lease and you'll likely find load data on it in their marketing literature. -
Tis true with limits. Aircraft tend to bulk out before they get overweight.....with exceptions.....like military aircraft carrying an M1 Abrahms for instance.
-
Yeah - I'm finding info where I least expect it! haha....
If you type in "C-141B planning guide" into google or yahoo, you should come up with one of the booklets we are going to use for the C-141B. I can't find anything like it for any of those other planes. :(
Unfortunately you can't really walk into a federal courtroom with a printout from Wikipedia and expect them to take you seriously. -
I have 20 years of PIC (left seat) time in the B-727. You need to narrow your search and define exactly what parameters you're looking for. The '72' made its debut over 40 years ago and there are a host of modifications concerning performance & operating limitations that have changed. Good luck with your search!
