Totally Off Topic: Internet Domain Names

I was researching the availability of a domain name that includes the word "Atlantic". GoDaddy offers alternative names that are available, and they offer premium names that have been taken but are for sale. I discovered that "AtlanticWalrus.com" is available for only $299. I just thought you'd like to know that....

    HUH!!!
  • Try buying a porn related domain. That will cost you a second, wait...third mortgage.
  • Someone inquired about nakedwhiz.com, but I never heard back from them!

    Ku-ku-kachu
  • What is totally stupid is I had a client with the .net domain because .com was taken. The company with the .com wasn't doing anything with it and wanted like $20k for it because it draws a lot of traffic. Ah, Geez, maybe it was my client they looked for. $20k was more than my client could afford so that's life I guess. Offered them $5k and they said no. Not sure who else would buy it because the name was kind of specific.
  • How do I find out what it would take to lure lumpcharcoal.com away from the squatters? I wonder if it is worth the GoDaddy service that tries to buy it.

FWIW, my domain is registered through namecheap.com. I don't think you can beat their price, and service has been fine.
