Okay gang, it's that time of year once again, and we have decided that November 15th will be the date for this years Tikifest. That is 4 weeks notice, which should be enough, also a couple of weeks prior to Thanksgiving, so that shouldn't interfere. We don't want to wait to much longer as it is only going to get colder....
Now for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about..."Tikifest" is in NO way an official BGE fest, it is merely a gathering of eggheads at our home in College Park, Maryland, this will be our third year doing this. Pictures can be seen on my website linked below. We typically go all day and into the night, however this year we are going to do a slightly different format for the day. Details will be provided by e mail to anyone who contacts me by E mail with the intent of attending ( also linked below ) We have always had a good time and we usually have enough heat sources that it doesn't get uncomfortable.....
So let me know if you plan on attending, or contact me by e mail if you need additional info.

Bad date, you're competing with the fest in AZ. Dang Wess, now there won't be as many Eggheads in Tempe. :( Wish we could make it, but Tempe is a whole lot closer. -RP

It was tough to pick a date, and I honestly never checked the other fests for conflicts, sorry for that...Not that I'd expect you to travel all of that way...we appreciate the thought tho. And I don't think our little fest will sway anyone into not attending in Az.

Would love to make it but it's not in the cards. If the cards change how far are you from the airport? Will you make Ocala? Tell Sally thanks for the beads the grand daughters will love them.

We wont be in Ocala for the next fest. We are roughly 30 minutes from BWI, not sure how far from Reagan, but the metro runs to Reagan airport and one of the lines will bring you to walking distance from our house...Sally said she was more than happy to give up the beads...Don't know if she told you what it took to get those beads, but I'm sure you have a good idea. :)

    Hey Wess,
Just seen the pictures on your website, the place looks very inviting.....would love to be there for the party...who wouldn't.....however....I am not sure where all this economic mess is leading us but the peso has devalued 27% in the past couple of uncertainty is hanging heavily over us....So I'll have to stay here and "mind the store" and hopefully make the right decisions, Sorry this time won't be able to make it but hope to see all of you in the near future.

It was a pleasure to meet you and Loren, and what we do here is more like a backyard get together, don't really expect anyone to spend big bucks to attend, not that we wouldn't enjoy the company...But we fully understand..Till next time..

    Hi Pat,
I was happy to share the beads with the children!
We are half an hour from BWI, probably the same distance from the DC airports. Would love to see you if you can make it. We have not made any decisions on our next offical fest yet, still trying to come down from the Eggtoberfest!

i personally only discovered the "active first" option a while ago (where a thread bumps to the top when a new reply has been made to it). i'd bet a lot of folks don't get the benefit of the bump because their view is simply chronological. you may have to start a new thread every once in a while. i don't think anyone here has a problem with you reminding folks about a party you are hosting, whether it's by bumping or new posts. no need to apologise

anyone that has a problem with that would be a tool.....

You make a very good point about not everyone having "active thread first" I find it easier to stay current that way...but who knows, Thanks for the support...I have asked WMK to make it a sticky at the top, we'll see if that comes to be or not. And I may start a new post from time to time linking back to this one, another great idea...
  • stikestike Posts: 15,597
i like the active thread thing. but it took me too long to "discover" it.

sticky would be good. i'm afraid if you did a banner at the top, you'd have 1500 people show up! hahaha

1500!!! Sally would be in the loony bin...
  • WessBWessB Posts: 6,937
1500 once a year is enough for me...and we just did that... :)

Already have 11 eggers either confirmed or working out details to make it happen, should be a good time.
