Haven't done it myself, but my first assumption would be a zing wheel. If that doesn't work a saws-all. The zing wheel should do the trick though, probably a little smoother too.

a hand held grinder did just fine for me, wear eye protection though.

Perhaps I have missed something, but why do you want to break the handle off a cast iron skillet? Why not just buy cast iron without handles? There are plenty of those on the market, especially at Bass Pro Shops. As I said, maybe I missed something....

I won't try to break it off, it cuts reasonably easy. Any saw with a metal blade will work. If using a power saw, just go with low RPMs, slow blade speed. Maybe a little oil on the cut to keep the blade cool. Hacksaw for hand cutting works too.
Any metal shop can get it done in two minutes, probably $10 charge. Twww.ceramicgrillstore.com ACGP, Inc. -
because i dont want to buy a new one. i have a olde one .

hacksaw, then smooth the cut with a bench grinder or file.

I used a Sawzall with a fine metal blade at low speed. I then just file it smooth. Very easy too do.Everyday is Saturday and tomorrow is always Sunday.

does it just not fit, my 12 inch fits just fine with the handle. i really dont see a need that the pan sits dead center in an egg, the egg is hotter in back anyways. it cuts fine with a hack saw or grinder if you really need to cut it off.
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
I bought on of these and it works great:
