Smoked figs ?

I'm looking for something different for an appetizer next week, and picked up some fresh figs at the farmers' market today... Has anyone tried smoking figs? I did find a recipe on the web where they cut the figs in half, put them in a pan, cut side up, drizzled with molasses and a fruit juice. Smoked at 200 for 5 hours or so... turning the figs for the last hour. Sounds interesting... Any thoughts?
