Gustav Tri Tip
Frank from Houma
Posts: 5,755
We're refugees (Gustavians) at my son's house in Katy, Tx. Flipped through the forum but only read a couple posts. Did notice that our visit to the Egg Monument known as the Chicken Coop was posted for the international egg community to view. Thanks to Leroy and Judy for their hospitality and of course thanks to Rodney as well. The Coop is over the top just like the Coop masters. The Coop party plans are well on the way and all will have a nice time.
Brought my small along for the trip and have been busy cooking in between watching the Tigers and the Weather Channel. Stuffed Fritos and "The Chicken" wings and thighs yesterday along with some intensely fudgy brownies. Tri Tip and veggies today.
Took out the fire ring to make more room. Pan of veggies with corn on the cob on top.
Took out the platesetter and put a grid close to the lump to sear the Tri Tip and then put it back for roasting. Pulled at 120, wrapped in foil to rest for 10 minutes.
Not much left over - yes we like em rare.
Hope all are safe along the coast. Looks like we will be taking it on the chin in Houma.

Glad to see your high and dry and hope all stays well at the homestead. OH and the food looks great, I have a hard time with that at home let alone on the road. Nice cook Frank

It didn't take you long to smoke up the neighborhood LOL. I'm sure your son's neighbors are now talking about the strange guy who dresses in purple and gold and makes the air taste good LOL...
We thoroughly enjoyed your visit to the Chicken Ranch. And Rodney has already informed me that you are on his "Welcome Anytime" list.
The 'Girls' would like for you to ccme back too. They like guys in loud clothes and would like it even better if you were to come turn them on.
But I kept the girls busy with some of the trout you brought. I just used what we had on hand but decided to try a version of Mainegg's Parchment fish and veggies. Turned out fantastic. We even invited our neighbors over to enjoy it along with some Mack & Cheese from a recipe on Bobby Flay's new Grill'n show. Here's proof...
As for Gustav, looks to be downsizing a bit but that's like getting shot in the head with a 38 instead of a 44. It ain't a pretty sight. Wishing you well and if we can help please don't hesitate to call.

Looks good Frank.
Glad you are safe. Hopefully your home and neighbors are as well. Let me know if I can help in any way. -
Frank,
I did two tri-tips and corn on the cob yesterday also. Just as I was about to pull the tri-tips, a Suburban with Geaux Tigers license plates pulls into my next door neighbor's driveway. It was his 85-year-old parents and his sister and bro-in-law who had evacuated from Sulphur, Louisiana.
I hope you and Mike in Abita Springs and all your property come through this in good shape. In the meantime, I'm enjoying the good Louisiana folks next door.
Regards, -
Very nice. Hope you didn't hit any bones.

Frank, glad to hear you are safe. Just watching Jim Cantore in your downtown. Looks like you guys took a pretty direct hit. Hope things hold together.

Fleeing a hurricane, one has to prioritize. Taking your Egg tells me you have your priorities straight, Frank :P .
I've been watching, and it doesn't look as bad as it might have been. Good luck, buddy.
