I plan to try Swamp Venom on some babybacks and spares this weekend. I have cherry, maple, pecan, and hickory chips on hand.
Since Swamp Venom is a spicy rub, what type of smoke would go well with it?
Thanks!

personally I'd go with cherry or pecan.Re-gasketing America one yard at a time.

I would suggest hickory and maybe mix in a little bit of mesquite.

Quite diverse taste so far! :-) I just don't want to use a type of smoke that would clash with the rub.

the point is you should go with what you like. BTW another good use for Swamp Venom is in a Bloody Mary...it kicks!Re-gasketing America one yard at a time.

You need to keep in mind that the guys who developed and sell Swamp Venom aren't just a bunch of guys who threw a bunch a spices together in a jar.
They are Grand Champion BBQ Competitors. Furthermore they know how spices go to together with the smoke. They know what smoke goes good with what foods. That rub will be good with any of the smoke flavors common to ribs.
Ribs are best with Hickory, Pecan, or Cherry.. Pick one :woohoo:
It's good to use us as a guideline, but you will get as many opinions as there are ways to cook. Pick the one that appeals to you the most and tweak it to your taste.
