Anyone recognize this bird. He's taken refuge under the bench on the front patio and has been there for 3 hours now.

My vote would be that it is an osprey as well. You guys in the drought zone of S.C., Tennessee, and Georgia, take heart. I only saw one extremely long range forecast for Hurricane Fay, but it shows that after the western turn that will take it to Alabama, and maybe all the way to Mississippi, it will turn and go right through your area. I don't know if it is because of the Coriolis Effect, but all hurricanes eventually head east.

I don't think it would be a osprey because there is no sign of a hook on the beak.The feet look like a pigeon.Some expert will come along.The wife says a chicken but I never saw a chicken that color and she came back the come in all different colors .It looks like it has not been out of the nest for to long.So I will not recommend getting it to the egg.

Thanks all. It hung around a few hours till the wind calmed a little then flew off. It did eat a few slices of bread
