rain lid versus daisy wheel

Newbie here with a Large BGE. When finished with the cook and "powering down" is it better to close with the daisy wheel or the rain lid. The Naked Whiz gives one answer and my dealer the other. What say the Eggheads?
Theoretically, the ceramic rain lid would be more airtight. However, mine doesn't seem to fit real snug, probably because it is designed more to keep rain out from the top then oxygen seeping in from below the lid. I suppose the correct answer may vary from Egg to Egg depending on the fit of the rain lid.

I just close the daisy wheel and the fire goes out. The hat is saved for special occasions.

I use the ceramic top and put the daisy wheel inside the grill to keep it dry and rust free.

I do the same, I used the daisy for shutting down when I first got my Egg and found I still had live embers the next day, they burned up the vacuum cleaner. Then I asked the good people here and was told the daisy leaks enough air to keep a very small amount of coal live and I should be shutting down with the ceramic top. -RP

i still have two ceramic caps in the original boxes and have been eggin for years. anybody wanna buy them?.
i just use my daisey wheel but to each his own. -
Ditto
Some folks take left over gasket material and line the inside of the rain cap to make a tighter seal. Mine goes on naked. -
As always, thanks for the prompt input!

Every time that I have been to a Eggfest it seems like the procedure to get the temperature down at a rapid rate is to put a small piece of foil inside the ceramic top to make a air tight seal.

I need one for a large. Mine cracked up years ago and is falling apart again.
