My New BGE Corner Table
Options
Here's a picture of my new corner table. I ran a test run on the other page so hopefully this will work.
I wanted to replace my nest with a table, but I have a relatively small deck (10 X 16), so the rectangle table would take up more space than I wanted to give up. I made up a sketch of this table that fits in a corner and my dad made this one for me. It fits my needs perfectly.

Very Nice. Your Dad's very talented.

Sweet! That's a really great setup.

I love it! I want one too. What a fine looking table.
-
Great table...you will love it.....
-
Hey thanks. Yeah, he's incredible. He's makes furniture, cabinets, acoustic and electric guitars, etc. So this was a walk in the park for him.
-
Thanks!
The top is formica. That way I can just wipe it clean if oil and stuff splatters on it. -
Wow, beautiful!! Great job.
-
That is a really nice design. He did a great job.

Outstanding

Like all the above posts... very nice. I like the over the formica.
It is interesting to see the evolution of tables. One idea leads to another and I think we are in for some really great things to come.
It would be interesting to see some design put in the new tables addressing cleaning of the ash.

Wow, what a unique piece of work!

I like it!

PERFECT! Just what I need. How much are the Plans??? Really! would like to have a set. I have limited space on my deck also...GREAT Job by your dad too.

Hey Thanks!! As far as the plans go... I literally sent a sketch of the top view to him with only the critical dimensions (hole size, length of the back, distance from the rear point to the front, and the width of wings). He built if from that. He can build anything, and this stuff is second nature for him. So there unfortunately aren't any plans.
I would be willing to give you any measurements you would like though, and I'll give you any information I can about materials etc. Just let me know if I can help and I'll go out and take measurements for you. -
Thats one that you need to get plans drawn up on. What an original thinking. Great job.

Hey I appreciate that...I'm looking at my deck now thru the dining room window and thinking...I might be able to design and build myself, but dimensions you have might save me some time along with the material you used. Don't know if I can do as good a job as your dad, but worth a try and prob a lot cheaper to build.
thanks -
Is that a large or medium egg?
-
That's a large Egg. I bought it used about a year ago.
-
I'll see if I can come up something. Unfortunately, my father lives about 1 1/2 away, and I'm clueless about what different cuts, angles, and types of lumber are called. I also wouldn't know how to get the plans on the computer.
-
Yeah, no problem. Just fire away any specific questions you have and I'll answer them for you. Feel free to email me too.

I love the look. Do you really need the wood under the slate? With feet on the egg I'd put the slate right on the base and lower the egg some.
-
THAT IS NICE! Your dad did a great job.

You and your dad have an impressive relationship. Your design, his ability to make it real, very impressive. Thanks for sharing. More ideas for tables.
-
Ha! You weren't supposed to notice that. In my case, yes I do need the wood.
When I sent the original sketch to my dad, I put the wrong measurement down for the distance between the top shelf and the bottom shelf. Then I realized my mistake and had him change it, and then he changed it too. Through all of this, we ended up with the wrong dimension. So, I had to put the wood there or else the egg sat too low and the hinge hit in the back. -
Really great job on the table!
As far as building another- your plan, this photo and the standard height dimensions given on the BGE site for their table plans gives you almost everything you need.
The legs in the back are the only thing in question. add them to your sketch, scan it and you've got an e-mailable plan.
