My Lid Block

LIDBLOCK1.jpg

For ever I have been using a block of hardwood for a lid block, like when starting up with an electric starter, or doing some high temp grilling. I rustled up some 1/4" rod scraps and made this prototype. This one has opposing 90° angles where it rests on the rim, the next one will have "U" shaped pieces on both ends.

Any ideas for improvement??
