Hmmmmmm - I bought four yesterday for 5.47 a bag. Maybe it's one of the those Louisiana kick back scemes.
-
wierd, I paid $5.27. -RP

12 bags! At one time? That's great! People at work think I'm nuts when they ask what I had for lunch and I tell them I went to WalMart to buy 6 bags of RO.
-
What is RO? Thanks from the newbie.
-
RO= Royal Oak (brand) Lump Charcoal.

Randy,
Walmart seams to have plenty here in Ventura.
Ross -
4 bags, same price in Renton, WA...
I wonder what a pallet would cost.
hmmmmmm....

I used to buy my RO at Wal-Mart. Then I found 20# bags of RO at GFS for slightly over $10 per bag. It was a great deal. The last time I went to GFS to load up, they had replaced the RO with GFS's own brand of lump. I bought a bag and it doesn't seem to bad. Anybody have any comments on GFS's brand or know who makes it for them. The size of the lumps and the quality seem to be like RO.

I can't get the GFS brand as hot and last as long as RO.

A pallet of Wicked Good ended up costing $0.65 per lb. including freight shipping, which was great considering that Royal Oak at Walmart costs $0.60 per lb. after tax and you have to go pick it up yourself. WGC is so much better it is easily worth the extra $0.05 per lb. Find 3-6 local eggers near you and split the cost of a pallet from WGC...

You all are lucky as here in the Denver area none is to be found! Purchased Best of the West at Lowe's instead and had a tree trunk in the bag :(

I've been getting my RO at Walmart for a couple of years. I usually have 12 or so bags in storage(attic). and pick up 1 or 2 when ever my downstairs stash runs low. I've always paid $5.27 per bag.

I found RO Steakhouse at Menards this weeked for $4.67 for 10 pounds. Only did 1 cook on it yesterday, but it lit quick and didn't seem to burn overly fast. Any others have expericence with this lump?

Just picked up 5 - 20lb. bags of Made in USA RO for $8.97 a bag at a local Restaurant Depot. That makes 480 lbs. of lump in the shed. At the next BBQ Anonymous Meeting I guess I need to stand up and say "My name is John and I have a problem."Everyday is Saturday and tomorrow is always Sunday.

I went and bought twenty 22 pound bags, and forty 11 pound bags of Wicked Good Week-end warrior over the week-end...
:woohoo:
Though my local Wal*Mart still has about 15 bags of RO.
