Well I have been cooking on my Dad's XL BGE for a while now and really enjoyed it. The only problem was loading up my newborn and my wife and hauling them over there to cook. Well my wife got me a Large BGE for my birthday the other day. Man was I surprised. Got it put together last night and plan on breaking it in this weekend. Thinking ribs one night and pizza the next. Good to be on board.

Good to have you.

Might think about the pizza idea - best to keep her 400° or below for several cooks to "set" the gasket.

Thanks for the advice...makes sense.

I remember my first time. It was magical. Remember to relax and enjoy the moment. Happy Egg'n.

I too remember my 1st time - like it was last week - oh yeah - it was. Love my egg. I have tried to use it every night and am trying all kinds of food - no disappointments yet. I'm making fresh trout tonight. I have turkey and brisket to go and I think I'll have covered the major bases. My only regret about buying my egg is that it took me so long to discover it. I never thought anything would replace my Weber. What did I know?!?

I got an interesting smoke trout recipe from a trout farm in Grandfather Mountain, NC. They soak their fish in salt water with 1/4 cup of lemon juice for about 15 minutes. Then in the smoker for 4 hours. When they made it , the taste was wonderful. Thought I might try this weekend.

Welcome!!!
The EGG is a really fun piece of kit. I got my first in October last year and got my second in May of this year.
Be sure to post your first cook.

Sounds good - it's for dinner tonight so I don't have 4 hours but will keep this in mind and try it when I have more time. You can never have trout too often!
