Just got back from a weeks vacation in NW Wyoming. Saw a lot of wildlife that we don't see in South Louisiana and outstanding countryside. Real different and a real treat - especially for someone from the flatlands.
Saw a lot of these
Saw some of these
Saw one of these
Kept our distance when shooting those shots. Got a little closer on these - even the weeds are nice

Oh we got "flatlands" too, we just call them grasslands. Hey, did you see any of these?? they're everywhere.

Plenty of those. They were are all over my sister's back yard in Casper when we visited a few years back. What a memorable trip - good friends, good food, great activities at the ranch, and outstanding scenery.

Got my ABT Garden started a little late this year, but this jalapeno is huge...
Well, it's the biggest one on the plant so far...
Wonder when it'll be ready for some serious ABT-making? -
Nice Shots! Brown bears are awesome creatures but don't they make you a bit nervous out in the middle of nowheres?
How about some garden critters?
King of the Hens.
Baby Mantis
Bees, Bees and more Bees....
Sleeping Day Lily Bees...
Butterflitter.
And the elusive Eastern Black and White Foo.
Happy Woosday!

It looks like critter day.
Here is crunch and munch from last August. I had bacon and sausage from one or both of these this spring.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Thanks Larry. I'm enjoying the progress of your owls. Very cool to be able to witness that every day.
Here are a few more garden shots for the YardBoy and Kaye... hope all is well with yall!

I think that would be a grizzley, there buddy.
And by the way, nice shots as usual....Happy Trails~thirdeye~Barbecue is not rocket surgery -
Very nice John...You coming to Atlanta this year?
Larry -
Thanks pal. I trust your call on that Wyoming bear being a grizzly as I can't tell the two apart.
There are some who argue the grizzly and brown bear are one in the same (drawing on a dim memory from a past National Geographic article).
All I know is to keep my distance from both!

It's too early to tell, Larry, but I'd love to see the spectacle.... and finally see your garden in person.

It's the ears and the hump that are the dead giveaway. A lot of folks here call grizzlies browns, because the other species we have are black bears, but it's funny because the black bears can be brown or red/brown too.
Just a few weeks ago one of my buddies ex-wife was trapped in her car, in her own driveway, by a black bear. She thought it was "cute" until she got the re-paint estimate from the body shop.Happy Trails~thirdeye~Barbecue is not rocket surgery -
Great thread but way OT! :~) Thanks for the comparison graph.
The only bears we have out east are black bears and in my experiences of camping in the Appalachians and coastal NC, they are very shy and very, very rarely mess with people. They're a heck of lot smaller than your western bears, too.
In 1989 I got to hold a 45 lb black bear cub that was being raised by professional rehabers. That little bear was so strong it could have ripped off my limbs if it had a mind to do so. Thankfully, all it was interested in was the milk bottle I was holding.
We think we're kings of the forest but bears are the ones who really rule! -
Beautiful photos guys. After 15 months out of the house and living in four different places...beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
